Robyn Harrod, LCSW
Robyn brings over 12 years of Social Work experience to her position at Southern CA Foster Family and Adoption Agency. Prior to joining SCFFAA, she spent 5 years working with children, prospective adoptive parents, birth parents and adult adoptees at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services Adoption Division. Her expertise in independent, international and foster care adoption allows her to assist prospective parents in choosing the type of adoption that best meets the needs of their family.
Before embarking on her career in social work, Robyn traveled extensively for business and was able to learn a great deal about different cultures. Bringing those experiences to her role at SCFFAA, she has been able to develop the adoption program with a strong sense of purpose.
Ms. Harrod is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pace University in New York City and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California.
Ms. Harrod is frequently invited to speak about adoption and alternative ways of creating families to parenting groups, including Pop Luck and Maybe Baby; and each year she is a presenter at The Gay and Lesbian Center’s “Parenting with Pride” conference. She has served as consultant for television programs to assist with their adoption storylines. In addition, Ms. Harrod has a private practice specializing in child and family therapy, and counseling individuals and couples who experience infertility issues. A registered Adoption Service Provider by the State of California, Ms. Harrod is trained to provide counseling services for birth parents considering adoption for their child.
In 2008, Robyn was presented with the 2008 Adoption Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Children’s Bureau for her individual and professional contribution to the furtherance of adoption of children in foster care.
Ms. Harrod’s strong commitment to building families gives her the ability to match the right child to the right home creating a true sense of permanency.
