President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency, Sylvia Fogelman has many years of experience in social work, business and administration. Before returning to her real calling, social work, and founding the agency, Ms. Fogelman spent ten years as a successful business owner and general contractor, building low cost housing and receiving recognition by the United States Small Business Administration. Prior years were spent in social work, administration and planning with the County of Los Angeles. She brings a social work heart and a CEO brain to her work as President of SCFFAA.
Active in many professional and community organizations, Ms. Fogelman is a Director of Youth Opportunities United, Inc., an non profit organization helping the broad range of youngsters in foster care, is a member of the Los Angeles City Workforce Investment Board Youth Council and was a former President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Woman Business Owners during the time when she was developing and building housing.
As President of SCFFAA, she is a member of the Los Angeles Association of Human Service Agencies and the National Foster Parent Association. Under her leadership, the agency has received recognition from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration and received the prestigious “All Children – All Families” Seal of Recognition from the Human Rights Campaign.
Ms. Fogelman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brooklyn College and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Southern California.
