Youth In Transition Foster Youth Co-Mentoring Project

SCFFAA received a grant in the amount of $60,000 from the Andrus Family Fund in support of the 2011 – 2012 YTP Foster Youth Alumni Co-Mentoring Project.  This show of confidence follows an extremely successful pilot program that began in 2009.

Foster Youth “age out” of the foster care system between the ages of 18 and 21 and are expected to transition to independence despite limited support and guidance.  They are expected to find housing, job, careers and pursue advanced education.  They need a safety net, mentors.

The Foster Youth Alumni Co-Mentoring Project brings youth, ages 18 to 25, who have left the foster care system, with a select group of adults in order to create a healthy support system to assist the youth during this difficult transitional time.
