Before joining SCFFAA, Kimberly Sutton had a long history of assisting individuals and families in need. “I’ve always wanted to help children and families,” says Kim, SCFFAA’s Foster Care Supervisor. Before becoming a social worker, Kim worked as a sign language interpreter, assisting hearing impaired adults and children. It was after receiving her Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family & Child Therapy from USC that Kim became interested in working in foster care. She joined Optimist Youth and Family Services in 1995 as a foster care social worker. “I had a great experience with Optimist; it was a wonderful opportunity to learn about families and the challenges they face,” she says of the experience. Duringher 15 years with Optimist, she was able to work in several departments, including family recruitment and adoption.
Kim joined SCFFAA in March of this year. “I’m glad to be part of such a dedicated and caring staff,” she says of joining the agency. “I’m looking forward to growing as a professional and continuing to help others.” In her spare time, Kim enjoys spending time with her friends, family
