In 2014, Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency (SCFFAA) entered into the merger process with Child Welfare Initiative (CWI). Both organizations were well-established, innovative nonprofits in Southern California that shared the vision of improving the daily lives and long-term outcomes of children impacted by the child welfare system.
The merger process confirmed that combining the two organizations would result in gained synergies, improved efficiencies, reduced costs, complementary services and in-field learning that significantly leverages resources and greatly increases the organizations’ impact on the community.
SCFFAA brought to the table its 20-year history of providing groundbreaking direct foster care, adoption, and transition services to youth and families, and CWI, 7 years of implementing transformative programs and policies that produce measurable improvements in the lives of children and families in the system.
Andrew Bridge now serves as CEO of ExtraordinaryFamilies.
The merger followed the retirement of Sylvia Fogelman, SCFAA Founder, President and CEO. Both Sylvia and Andrew are recognized for their lifelong leadership, vision and dedication to improving the lives of children in child welfare.
